First Responders Challenge (May)
This race is dedicated to the quiet heroes that keep us safe in our day to day lives – our police officers, fire fighters, and emergency medical personnel. For the most part our first responders live in the background, unseen and forgotten, yet when we need them they are there, often risking their lives for ours. For many of these men and women fitness isn’t just a good idea. It is a necessity and a way of life! A first responder never knows what they might face on a given day and the physical demands are often incredible.
We invite you test yourself against our first responders, either as individuals or teams. Additionally, the First Responders Challenge is designed to pit elite teams of police, fire fighters, and emergency medical crews against each other in order to test their fitness, teamwork, and determination.
Yes, there will be prizes and our sponsors will be making charity donations in the names of the top three first responder teams, but really this race is about testing ourselves, mentally and physically, having fun, and celebrating these men and women who risk their lives to keep us safe each and every day.
When and Where is the Race?
The First Responders Challenge will be held on May 21, 2016 at Reid Park in Tucson, AZ. Additional details will be posted as we get closer.
What does the Race look like?
The First Responders Challenge will begin with a 5K obstacle run followed by a series of team challenges. Obstacles and challenges are designed to simulate and test physical demands and skills that first responders might encounter during the performance of their duties. There will be plenty of calisthenics, runs and sprints, getting over or under obstacles, and lifting or dragging heavy things.
Individual competitors will only complete the 5K obstacle run and all teams are invited to compete in the team challenge.
How do I register?
Registration will be available soon on this page and through Active.com.
What about prizes?
There will be team and individual prizes awarded. First and foremost, qualified First Responder teams are competing against each other to win bragging rights and for a cash donation to their charity of choice! Additionally, prizes will be available for all other competitors competing within their respective categories. These prizes and competition categories will be announced at a later date.
